El Ministerio de la Cultura no ha dado hasta la fecha ninguna información verificable sobre el paradero de las Momias de Chachapoyas.

Seeking information leading to locate the "Mummies from Chachapoyas": links, photos, videos, testimonies, even copies of paper clips on exhibits held, etc. Any and all information is welcomed, and confidential information will be treated as such. These mommies are part of the Peruvian Cultural Heritage, and protected under international law. In 2006, 93 mummies left Peru as denounced by world-recognized archaeologist Federico Kauffmann, presumably to be exhibited at different points in Europe. They were never returned. The actual loss to the Peruvian Heritage could never be calculated. However, the market for "private" collectors, value these 93 mommies at approximately €100 Million Euros or $130 Million USD.

Enclosed, please find information on an exhibition held at the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology on 12 August - 15th November 2006. This is, for now, the last information publicly available on the Mummies from Chachapoyas. The South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, as well as the Italian government will be contacted in the following days concerning the investigations in course.

The response since the search was initiated a few days ago, has been overwhelming. It is crucial to gather as much information as possible to reconstruct the path that the Mummies from Chachapoyas took, after their first exhibition in Europe.

We are receiving several messages from colleagues in the media, of "pressure" no to touch the topic of the Mummies from Chachapoyas. Political and government pressure on the media.
