Easy ways to get the word out on social media

Promote your new app with these tried-and-tested tactics

With the pandemic forcing us all to spend more time at home and limit our physical contact with others, 2020 is all about social media. Usage has soared since March and that makes this medium the perfect channel to promote your new business app. If you’re ready to sit down and plan out your promotional strategy, be sure to consider these easy ways to get the word out using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

1. Use Instagram Stories

The Instagram Stories feature has been popular since it first launched but it has really come into its own this year. It consistently rates as one of the most popular features of the app so where better to promote your own new app? You can upload images, videos and add interactive elements such as gifs and questions plus incorporate music and re-share Stores and posts uploaded by others.

2. Go live on Facebook

You can go live on both Facebook and Instagram at no cost. These live broadcasts are incredibly interactive with viewers able to leave comments and ask questions as you stream. This option would be great for talking to your app designer or hosting a live demo of your app along with Q and A session.

3. Use paid ads

You can create a cost-effective, highly targeted ad campaign on both Facebook and Instagram in almost no time at all. All you need is some short text and imagery. Then, you can tap into Facebook and Instagram’s vast wealth of demographic data to precisely target your adverts to your exact ideal audience. This option is especially pocket friendly at a time when everyone is feeling the pinch and your marketing budget might have been squeezed because you can turn it on and off at will, set your own spending cap and feel confident that every penny is being used to place your app in front of exactly the right kind of user.

4. Pair up with an influencer

If you do have the budget for a more ambitious marketing campaign, consider pairing up with an influencer. Essentially this means you pay someone with a good following on your chosen social network to promote your app to their audience. This could take the form of a simple post, be a video, shared on Stories or in a live broadcast. The more of a following your chosen influencer has, the more expensive they are likely to be. Keep in mind that those with smaller audiences are also worthwhile if their community meshes perfectly with your desired app user.
