Zero waste menus are launching at Hiltons in London, Manchester and Brighton, featuring unusual delicacies such as ox heart (left), salmon cheeks (inset) and cod tongues. The £40 per person menu showcases 'innovative techniques' to combat food waste and underused cuts of meat that would usually be thrown away. Paul Bates (top right), executive head chef at Hilton London Metropole, says Hilton is making a 'meaningful difference, one delicious dish at a time'.
Scientist cracks cause of 'Pharaoh's curse' that killed more than 20 people who opened King Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922
The deaths of archaeologist Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon have long been linked to the Pharaoh's curse that threatens 'death by disease' upon anyone who disturbed King Tutankhamun's tomb. However, a new study has claimed there is a biological reason behind the deaths of the two men and more than 20 others who mysteriously died following the discovery in 1922. Another five men were snapped lunching inside the tomb following the discovery - and they all died from various illnesses in their 50s. However, inscriptions found inside other burials throughout Egypt suggested the ancient people knew about the dangers that lurked inside. The text included areas were 'forbidden' because of 'evil spirits.'
Is ChatGPT sexist? AI chatbot was asked to generate 100 images of CEOs but only ONE was a woman (and 99% of the secretaries were female...)
Imagine a successful investor or a wealthy chief executive - who would you picture? If you ask ChatGPT, it's almost certainly a white man. The chatbot has been accused of 'sexism' after it was asked to generate images of people in various high powered jobs. Out of 100 tests, it chose a man 99 times. In contrast, when it was asked to do so for a secretary, it chose a woman all but once.
Forget Mars, are there aliens on… K2-18b? Discovery of planet twice as big as Earth emitting gas 'only produced by life' sparks huge excitement among astronomers
Astronomers could finally show that alien life does exist on a distant planet following observations today. Planet K2-18b sits within the habitable zone of its star in the Leo constellation. Scientists said last year they thought they'd detected dimethyl sulphide gas in its atmosphere - a compound that is 'only produced by life'. Now, to confirm the finding, the James Webb Space Telescope will undertake hours of observations of the planet, which is thought to be .
James Bond, eat your heart out! Futuristic submarine resembles a UFO and can take eight passengers to depths of up to 656ft
James Bond memorably escaped beneath the waves aboard his adapted Lotus Esprit submarine in the 1977 film 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. But an incredible new submersible shaped like a UFO looks even outside the capabilities of MI6 's Q branch. The Triton 660 AVA sub has an expansive transparent 'bubble'-like' window that makes passengers feel at one with the ocean's depths. While diving up to 656 feet (200 metres) below the surface, guests can enjoy dinner, share a bottle of champagne or even get married.
David Bowie was right - there are spiders on Mars! ESA's Mars Express spacecraft snaps mysterious arachnid shapes on the Red Planet
David Bowie (inset) famously christened his backing band 'The Spiders from Mars' in the early 1970s. But the rock legend surely had no idea that this describes a real phenomenon on our neighbouring red planet. Although not actual spiders, 'araneiforms' are dark cracks in the Martian soil, completely different to anything on Earth. New images from two European Space Agency probes show the curious formations in incredible detail.
Voyager 1 starts transmitting useable data again for first time in five months - after appearing to have broken down nearly 50 years into its outer space journey
The decades-old NASA Voyager 1 spacecraft has begun sending readable communications again after months of transmitting gibberish. Voyager 1 has been sending data from interstellar space back to Earth for nearly fifty years after being launched in 1977. However, in November a glitch occurred that made the spacecraft's data about its environment and the health of its own systems unintelligible to the NASA scientists monitoring it.

With her bright orange fur and friendly face, you'd be forgiven for mistaking this orangutan as a youngster. Bella was collected from the wild in 1964, and is estimated to have been born in 1961, making her the same age as Barack Obama, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Coolidge. She celebrated her birthday at her home in Hagenbeck Zoo, Hamburg, with a cake made from soft-boiled rice and fruits.

Carlson weighed in with his UFO theories on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Inside 'world's deadliest cave' that could cause next pandemic: Kitum in Kenya gave rise to Ebola and 'eye bleeding' Marburg virus
Fatal 'hemorrhagic' or blood-letting fevers emerged from Kitum in the 1980s, initially baffling world heatlh experts. Today, scientists ascribe part of Kitum cave's unique deadliness to the myriad animals who scrape the cave for salt. The cave's highly valued salty minerals, which have made it a destination not just for elephants, but also western Kenya's buffaloes, antelope, leopards and hyenas, has turned Kitum into an incubator for zoonotic diseases
Netflix's password-sharing crackdown pays off! Streaming platform gains 9.3 million customers - bringing its total subscriber base to almost 270 MILLION
Netflix 's crackdown on password sharing might have been bad news for many of us still lurking on our friends' accounts. But for the streaming giant, the risky move has now translated into soaring profits and record subscriber numbers. In the first three months of 2024, Netflix added 9.3 million new customers, bringing its total subscriber base to almost 270 million thanks to big hits like Society of the Snow (top right) and Fool Me Once (bottom right). And with subscription prices on the rise, this has given the company a quarterly profit of more than $2.3bn (£1.85bn) - up from $1.3bn (£1bn) in 2023. However, the company also revealed that it will no longer be reporting its subscriber numbers from next year, sparking concerns that growth may soon slow.
First he ruined Twitter, next is planet EARTH: Elon Musk's Starlink satellites could be eroding magnetic field and slowly poisoning us all, ex-NASA scientist warns
An ex-NASA physicist tells DailyMail.com that space junk could strip Earth's atmosphere - as Starlink becomes an 'unplanned geoengineering experiment.' Her new study draws on recent estimates that Elon Musk's SpaceX is currently burning up over 2,755 lbs (over 1.3 tons) of its wireless internet satellite debris into Earth's atmosphere every hour - creating a metal layer of 'conductive particulate' in orbit. Although she notes it is an 'extreme case,' such a layer of charged metal dust could lead to 'atmospheric stripping' akin to the ancient fates of Mars and Mercury
Ever wondered what Mona Lisa would look like rapping? Microsoft launches VASA-1 AI bot that can make images talk - with eerily realistic results
Microsoft's new AI tool, called VASA-1, transforms a still image of a human face into a video clip of them talking or singing. Lip movements are 'exquisitely synchronised' with audio to make it seem like the subject has come to life, the tech giant claims. In one example, Leonardo da Vinci's 16th century masterpiece 'The Mona Lisa' comes to life by rapping crudely in an American accent. However, Microsoft admits the tool could be 'misused for impersonating humans' and is not releasing it to the public.

The Dutch firm can turn a pig cell into a sausage in just four days - 60 times faster than rearing a pig for pork on a traditional farm. Krijn de Nood, co-founder and CEO of Meatable, said he hopes lab-grown meat will offer an alternative to meat from slaughtered cattle.
