First bottle made from 100 per cent recycled plastic hits the shelves
- The bottle is slightly cloudier than standard versions Highland Spring produces
- It is also more expensive to manufacture which may add around 5p to the cost
- Spring water eco bottle is due to go into stores across the country this month
A bottle made entirely of recycled plastic is to become a permanent part of the Highland Spring range.
Drinks companies, including Coca-Cola, have pledged to increase the amount of recycled plastic in their bottles.
However, Highland Spring is the first UK water brand to offer one that is 100 per cent recycled.

The bottle is slightly cloudier than the standard versions. It is also more expensive to produce which may add around 5p to the cost.
The eco bottle is going into stores across the country this month. Efforts by drinks firms to use more recycled plastic will be heavily reliant on the deposit and refund scheme on bottles – promised by the Government – to ensure a ready supply.
Efforts to combat plastic waste follow the Daily Mail’s Turn The Tide On Plastic campaign which has highlighted the threat it poses to the environment, oceans and wildlife.
