Now THAT's magnifico! Rock band Queen to toast 40th anniversary of 1975 hit single Bohemian Rhapsody with their own lager

  • Queen Bohemian Lager will hit the shelves in Europe this summer

British rock band Queen is launching 'Queen Bohemian Lager' this summer to mark the 40th anniversary of their 1975 hit single.

The 'golden hoppy' beer was brewed in the Czech Republic, synonymous with pilsner, a pale lager developed in Plzen, Bohemia.

The 4.7 per cent ABV beer comes swiftly on the heels of the band's own brand vodka 'Killer Queen', also named after the hit single.

Bottles will be on shelves this in Europe this summer and there will be a worldwide rollout later in the year, music publication NME reports.

A 12-pack of 330ml bottles are priced at £20  and a crate will cost £36.

Bottles will carry an image from A Night at the Opera and will have the distinctive Queen crest, designed by late frontman Freddie Mercury during his time at Ealing Art College.

'Queen Bohemian Lager' is described by the band's press release as a 'golden hoppy' beer.

Killer Queen vodka was released last September on the the 40th anniversary of the multiplatinum single of the same name, which featured on 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack. 

The drink was launched to by the band to honour Freddie Mercury, as it was the drink of choice of the legendary frontman. 

The seven times distilled vodka is made using an ancient original vodka filtration process of quartz sand and birch charcoal, and water from 600ft historical artisan well at source.

The band also released a 2013 Argentinian Malbec, The Queen Millionaire Waltz Malbec, which costs £55 for a case of six.
