Katy Perry's short black pixie crop exposes her décolletage as she fills out a low-cut Moschino Met Gala gown to great effect

Katy Perry's new black pixie crop lost some red carpet shine on Monday night, when she made a bigger impact with her cleavage-heavy dress.

The 30-year-old looked exquisite in a bold, Moschino Met Gala gown as she took the red carpet to debut her new hairstyle.

This Is How Do singer Katy rocked her own take on the Chinese Whispers theme and naturally, it focused heavily on her enviable curves.

Katy filled out her low-cut dress with ease, letting it hug tightly to her hourglass frame when she cut angles in front of the cameras.

Her dress featured a bright graffiti print and was topped off with matching long gloves that added that extra hint of sex appeal to her ensemble and even a Moschino spray paint can for a handbag.

Without her long, flowing tresses around her shoulders, Katy's decolletage was left to do all the talking.

Katy first rocked the style back in early April when she joked that she'd taken inspiration from Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner.

'I asked for the Kris Jenner,' she said on Instagram before spending the month sporting longer, more familiar jet black styles while visiting Tokyo.

It seemed that Katy had been taking style inspiration from one such other 50-something opn Monday though, when she and 56-year-old Madonna arrived together in similar creations by Jeremy Scott for Moschino.

The gowns both featured graffiti designs scribbled across them, and Madonna couldn't resist yet another plug for her album Rebel Heart. Katy arrived with American designer Jeremy on her arm before posing with Madonna, while the Queen Of Pop posed with her music producer Diplo.

Diplo - real name Thomas Wesley Pentz - has been romantically linked to Katy, and the pair appeared to be getting on famously.

This is neither Katy nor Madonna's first brush with Moschino.

The dresses Katy and Madonna wore were a perfect example of what the brand embodied.

Katy's dress was worn by Gigi Hadid when it made its debut during Moschino's Autumn/Winter show this past February.

The collection was inspired by the city.

'I was thinking about the street, maybe a bit New York, the way hip hop changes streetwear and renders it deluxe,' Jeremy, Moschino's creative director, told The Telegraph

'I wanted to play with eveningwear so I did the graffiti - it's eveningwear that's been tagged, that has a lived-quality of a lamppost or a mailbox. I wanted to capture that mood of every corner of New York in a new, elegant way.'

Madonna's frock, meanwhile, appeared to be personalized for her, as it bore the name of her album Rebel Heart.

The Material Girl singer was sure to direct attention towards her latest project that night at the fashionable event.

The exhibit, called Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion, will run at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, Costume Institute through August 15.

It explores the way Chinese art and aesthetics have been interpreted by the West over the years.

The show boasts a massive 30,000 square feet of gallery space filled with rich ensembles: Chinese costumes, historic garments and decorative arts, displayed beside the work of dozens of Western designers who were inspired by China, including names like John Galliano, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Cristobal Balenciaga, Jean Paul Gaultier and many more.

Many celebrities have been busy sharing behind-the-scenes pictures of their preparations, but there is a social media ban at the event that has been circulated to all attendees, according to reports.

Guests will receive notice upon arrival that 'the use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted' throughout the event, a controversial ban which has apparently come at the request of the evening’s host, Anna.
