WEATHER ALERT: Tornado Watch in Effect for Portions of New Jersey

The watch is effective until 10 p.m. Monday.

An 80-degree weekend looks to have been a precursor for hazardous weather, including a possible tornado.

A tornado watch is in effect for Camden, Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland counties until 10 p.m. Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch is issued when conditions are favorable for tornado development. During the designated time, people should be prepared to move to a safe place if threatening weather approaches.

The tornado watch is in addition to possible thunderstorms Monday afternoon and Monday evening. The thunderstorms may bring strong wind gusts and hail along with cloud to ground lightning.

Heavy rainfall hit much of South Jersey Monday morning, resulting in flooding in parts of the area and a messy commute all around.
