While his second offense was 25 years ago, a Hopkinton school bus driver now faces his third OUI, was arraigned and being held without bail until Tuesday, reported NECN.

Robert E. Murphy, 59, from Ashland, was arrested on Saturday while driving a bus filled with the Hopkinton High School cross country team. The coach had called authorities to say Murphy was drunk, said NECN.

Murphy was reportedly pulling in to Hopkinton High School with the busload of players when police met him and subjected him to a field sobriety test, according to WCBS News Boston.

Returning from a race in Cape Cod, prosecutors argue that witnesses reported seeing the bus driver run red lights, swerve and vary his speeds. Murphy is reported as saying “I really think I need this,” among other comments during the test, said WCBS.

Murphy’s lawyer, after reminding the court that Murphy hadn’t had a charge for 25 years, also said he had “physical problems,” reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

He has a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Framingham District Court.
