Tax Accountant

We are a well-established highly respected CPA firm located in Springfield, VA, providing high touch specialized services for micro to small businesses. Since our inception in 1996, we have experienced consistent growth each year and are now looking to add to our team of professionals. We are currently looking for a highly self-motivated individual with experience in both tax and small business accounting, government accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of federal & state tax returns for businesses and individual clients
• Oversight of the bookkeeping staff for the assigned clients and training clients on the use of their accounting system as well as looking for ways to provide solutions to business clients to help improve their financial operations
• Research and work with other staff members to resolve accounting and tax issues that may arise
• Strengthen the existing client relationship and be able to identify areas where the firm can be of better service to the client
• The ability to identify and recommend to clients potential tax and business planning opportunities
• Respond to clients and fellow staff in a timely and clear manner to ensure that effective communication is maintained at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications needed to succeed:

• BS/BA degree in accounting, CPA, CPA candidate or EA would be preferred
• Prior work experience in preparation of both individual and business tax returns, 2 or more years is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• The ability to prioritize in a high stress environment such as tax season
• The ability to be self-driven, well organized and able to multi-task
• Possess a sense of urgency in regard to projects or tasks that are being worked on and will put in the time necessary to complete them
• The ability to be a team player and work in conjunction with others to achieve a goal
• Proficient in QuickBooks (online and desktop) & UltraTax is a plus
• The ability to quickly adapt and learn on the go
