Icelandair Launches Seasonal Service at Dulles Airport
Icelandair will have four non-stop flights a week to Reykjavik from Washington-Dulles Airport.
Icelandair, the national carrier of Iceland since 1937, launched seasonal service from Washington-Dulles International Airport with four flights a week starting Tuesday.
The inaugural flight #644 was celebrated at the gate at the airport with a special reception, a water cannon salute and attendance of executives from Icelandair, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Iceland's Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
Guests enjoyed smoked salmon, Viking beer, sliders, sushi and champagne while listening to music by keyboardist, Benjie Porecki. The reception was followed by guest speakers MWAA President and CEO Lynn Hampton, MWAA Chairman of the Board of Directors Charles D. Snelling, Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason and Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Mr. Ossur Skarphedinsson and then the official ribbon-cutting.

Icelandair will have four non-stop flights a week to Reykjavik from Washington-Dulles through September 13 with convenient connections to cities throughout Scandinavia, The United Kingdom and Continental Europe, including Amsterdam, London Glasgow, Manchester, Billund, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Helsinki, Brussels and more. Stopovers in Iceland will not require additional airfare.
