Democratic Reform Priorities
Every marathon has to start somewhere.  Where do YOU want to our democracy to go?

Canada finds itself at a crossroads.
Westminster style democracies around the world are coming to the deadlock we have been experiencing for five years. The electorate no longer sees the world in black and white and no longer is engaged with democracy.  This is because our democratic machinery is failing them.  Their votes aren't counted equally, appointed members speak on their behalf and politics is ever more partisan and ever more a game played by a permanent political class.

Democracy is becoming separated from the people giving it voice. How do we fix it?

There are many problems and even more proposed solutions.  Part of the difficulty is motivating those in power to make a change.  But we cannot tell them to change if we do no even know what change we want.

So, lets start the discussion.

Below are a list of commonly discussed reforms to our democracy that various people and groups propose.  Take a moment to express your opinion on how important each is to you.  If you aren't familiar with one, let us know that and fill out the rest. Knowing what it is we don't know is the first step to learning.

If an important type of reform is missing, let us know and we'll add it.
If you have a blog post or a good website explaining the proposal include the link and we'll put it up on the DemReform website.

The results will be open to all, this is a non-scientific survey meant to initiate discussion and give us a rough shopping list to refer back to.

This is only the beginning.  Continue the discussion on facebook and twiiter:
