AI and its impact on the cybersecurity workforce is top of mind for ISC2 members, according to our recent survey AI in Cyber 2024: Is the Cybersecurity Profession Ready? ISC2 has responded by launching Securing AI, a series of two-day interactive workshops, focused on identifying opportunities and managing the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Gavin Landless, CISSP, SSCP, vice president of risk management at Empower Federal Credit Union in New York was impressed with the workshop’s content and knowledge sharing among peers during the in-person learning environment.
“Not only do we have a great instructor, but we also have fantastic dialog between the attendees, and that's something you just can't get from a quick overview,” Landless said during the session. “If you're really a stakeholder in AI or fascinated in AI, attend things like this, understand what your peers are doing, get involved, you're going to learn a ton.”
According to the latest ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Survey, 32% of respondents noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning(ML) is one of the biggest skills gaps impacting organizations and is now listed among the top five most in-demand skills for cybersecurity professionals. Meanwhile, in Darktrace’s report State of AI Cyber Security, 60% of CISOs and security leaders surveyed fear that their organizations are not adequately prepared to defend against AI-powered attacks.
The ISC2 AI workshops provide cybersecurity professionals with essential working knowledge of this highly sought skill set for immediate implementation back at their organizations. These insights will help attendees ensure their organization's AI practices are aligned with established risk management and emerging industry best practices.

Google’s Cloud Security Alliance Report states that of those surveyed, 74% said their organizations plan to create new teams to oversee the secure use of AI within the next five years.
