Rally & Press Conference: Basic Education Funding Commission Final Exam, Tuesday, November 14th at noon on the front steps of the PA Capitol

Join public education advocates (with our giant report card!) for a rally and press conference on front steps of the PA Capitol. We will call on Pennsylvania’s Basic Education Funding Commission (BEFC) to issue a report that will include a plan that will ensure public education is adequately, equitably, and constitutionally funded in Pennsylvania, in accordance with the recent Commonwealth Court decision AND to include a reasonable timeline for the implementation of this plan.

We will be grading them based on how well their report meets these criteria!

If the BEFC issues a report that does not contain a thorough calculation of how much each school district needs to meet the commonwealth’s constitutional obligation to our students (known as adequacy targets) and a reasonable timeline for the implementation of this plan, it will not only fail to meet its moral and constitutional obligations but would be a dereliction of duty that betrays our children.
