Congratulations to all of our fantastic Crane Teachers of the Year. Each year, the district schools honor an Outstanding First Year Teacher (FYT) and a Teacher of the Year. The selected school Teacher of the Year educators are nominated for the annual Yuma County Teacher of the Year Award in various categories, from elementary school all the way to college. We're so proud of all of our incredible educators!

The Crane Transportation Department has been awarded a $395,000 grant to purchase another electric bus from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean School Bus Program. This new bus will join the other three district electric buses in our fleet. Crane is doing its part to use clean energy 🔌 in the transport of our students. Way to go!

The Centennial Middle School Spiritline and Student Council participated alongside local participating youth to draw/paint inspirational MLK quotes on blank framed canvas/signs to donate to local schools and youth organizations for volunteers to use for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Walk & Community Celebration on January 15th. Students from around the county came together to build community and learn about service. The Travis Manion Foundation presented a workshop on Character furthering the message of "If Not Me, Then Who?".

Thanks to the Arizona Department of Education, Salida del Sol Elementary School will have the opportunity to apply for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant to provide rich before/afterschool & summer programs for our students and families.
The Gator Bots FIRST Lego League Team from Gowan Science Academy participated in the Arizona State LEGO Robotics competition in Tempe. FIRST LEGO League guides youth through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learning and exploration at an early age. Through challenge-based learning, students explore STEM and apply their skills in exciting ways while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way.
The Ronald Reagan Elementary 6th Grade Flag Football Patriots are 2023-24 champions! The school leadership thanks all of the coaches, teachers, parents and cheerleaders for all the motivation and support during the season and for helping out at the big game. Congrats Patriots!
Congratulations to Elliotte Griffin for winning a 1st Place Award in the First Annual Student Artwork Contest, held by the Arizona School Boards Association (ASBA)! The theme was "Imagination Unleashed". Elliotte won in the 6th Grade category for the work entitled "The Inspiration Look".

Winners received a $100 Visa Gift card and a $100 donation to their school’s art department while finalists earned a $25 gift card. Additionally, all of the students' artwork was displayed at the 2023 ASBA-ASA Annual Conference at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and on the walls of the ASBA office in Phoenix, and showcased in the ASBA Journal Magazine. What an incredible piece of art!
Salida del Sol Elementary hosted a Carnival-inspired Family Night. Students and families could play games, get their faces painted, pose for photos, and eat tasty snacks at this successful school event. We can't wait to go to the next one!
The Crane Band Program (80 students) is planning to perform at an event in San Diego in April 2024. At this event, students will be able to see people their age in different ensembles from all over the country. They will also be able to perform for a judge and apply the feedback to improve their playing.

You can help them raise the funds to make this trip possible!
You can help fund this trip through a tax credit donation of up to $200 for individuals, $400 for families. Every little bit helps, whether it's $20 or $200!
