| Indigenous Clean Energy (ICE), along with the 20/20 Catalysts Program, is proud to host the sixth annual Indigenous Clean Energy Forum on July 28, 2023, on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver, BC).
The Forum honours the participants’ success in completing the 20/20 Catalysts Program, year after year.
In 2023, an exceptional cohort of 22 participants from Indigenous communities spanning coast to coast to coast will come together to share their remarkable experiences and accomplishments within the program, and the clean energy projects they are working on for their communities and organizations.

| | Season 3 of the Decolonizing Power podcast is coming up soon!
The theme of this season revolves around kinship and solidarity. Building meaningful and strong relationships is essential to many Indigenous worldviews and one that we must hold central to this very important work. Listeners can expect to hear from community members in Latin America and Oceania about their energy needs, challenges and, most importantly, their hopes for the future.

| | Back to basics to become NRCan Registered Energy Advisors
On their way to becoming NRCan Registered Energy Advisors, the ICE Regional Energy Advisor Training Program participants have completed lessons in Building Science and Foundation Level Exam Prep to get ready for their first of two exams. For this, the future EAs had to go back to the basics of math before getting into the topics like Low-Rise Housing, HVAC systems, and the House-as-a-System that form their base of knowledge for the rest of the course.
They still have much learning ahead, including hands-on training, Indigenous-enhanced training and more.
Our team is excited to see all come together in person in October. |
| | Indigenous Off-Diesel Initiative
Indigenous Off-Diesel Initiative (IODI) cohort 2 of Energy Champions will be wrapping up their final 20/20 Catalyst on-site intensive sessions on Friday, July 28, with the National Indigenous Clean Energy Forum in Vancouver, BC.
For the rest of the summer, the Champions will focus on putting together their IODI Phase 2 applications, and subsequently, the Community Energy Planning Phase of the IODI Program, which runs from fall 2023 to spring 2025.
We extend our congratulations to all the 20/20 Catalysts this year! |

| | What's new with ICE Mentorship?
ICE has successfully established mentorship engagements for three of ICE’s capacity-building programs!
Firstly, the 20/20 Catalyst Program’s sixth cohort is engaged with group mentors that hold knowledge in key areas related to all stages of community energy planning. Secondly, Bringing it Home’s Project Accelerator is engaged with program advisors that provide wrap around support for project planning and development. Lastly, ImaGENation youth participants are engaged in individual mentorships that will encourage both professional and project development.
The variety of opportunities that ICE Mentorship provides highlights the advantages of connecting with experienced industry leaders, and the diversity of our network and outreach. |
