Our project investigates how information is used for decision-making in intensive care units. We seek to understand the context, uncertainty and dynamics in intensive care, focussing on doctors and nurses of different roles. We target to increase our understanding of the information flow and potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. The study focusses on actual needs, potential benefits and importantly, limitations of using AI to inform decisions. The research is part of a PhD project that investigates a meaningful way to use and transform information and intensive care data considering the growing interest in AI technologies.
Your participation involves either a conversation, or a survey form – depending on your availability and preference.
– The interview will likely take 20-60min, depending on your availability, at a time of your convenience. With your permission, the interview will be audio/video recorded.
– If you prefer to share your thoughts via a survey, you can find the link at the bottom of this page. We estimate that the survey takes about 12-30min to finish, depending on how much feedback you would like to give.
You will be presented with three high-level prototypes. We are interested in your thoughts on the usefulness of these prototypes in your work, any concerns you might have, and any additional ideas regarding technology and data usage in the ICU. The project is driven by curiosity to better understand the real needs of clinicians, with no attachment to the prototypes themselves.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and all information collected will be kept confidential. The survey is anonymous.
You will be provided with an information sheet before participation, and a consent form should you chose to participate via interview.
If you have questions before participating, are interested in exploring the prototypes and providing feedback via interview or workshop setting, please reach out to Tamara (tamara.orth@hdr.qut.edu.au).
