A highly flexible and responsive light-filled space promotes team engagement, exploration, and innovation.
Storage opportunities were maximized along the west balcony below the existing windows to further enhance the openness and flexibility of the interior workshops.
A netted enclosure was developed to the east balcony to add research and testing opportunities for the development of walking and flying robots.
An open accessible 4 ft. x 6 ft. ceiling grid framework incorporates easy flexible connectivity to power and data within the space. The open framework ceiling also incorporates a consistent pattern of lighting and supply air diffusers to give visual order and rigor to the space.
The Boelter Hall Robotics Institute is targeting LEED Gold certification, reinforcing UCLA's commitment to sustainability.
