If you just purchased a new strainer, you’re probably wondering about the
two pressure sensors at the inlet and outlet of the strainer. THEY’VE BEEN
PRE-INSTALLED! These sensors, when connected, monitor the pressure
drop that occurs over time when a strainer screen becomes clogged by foreign
particles. When the differential pressure across the strainer screen exceeds the
pre-configured threshold, an alert is triggered informing that action is required.
The sensor remains off and does not transmit data until activated and connected
via an add-on Connection Kit (sold separately). The addition of the sensor to
your strainer does not change its certification, function, or specification.
Choose the Connection Kit that’s right for you. Alerts you can count on are just a few easy steps away via a wired or cellular connection with Syncta, the mobile app from Watts or your BAS/BMS.

Why Connect?
Talk to any facility manager and they’ll tell you that maximizing system uptime and protecting critical process
equipment from damage is a top priority. With smart and connected differential pressure monitoring enabled on
your duplex or wye strainer, you can perform system maintenance proactively rather than reactively.
Maintain Consistent Flow and Efficient System Performance
Receive real-time alerts when pressure drop exceeds a pre-configured threshold.
Proactively Perform Strainer Maintenance
Add automated blowdown to automatically flush the system,
reducing maintenance time. (Available on Wye Strainers only)
Prevent Costly Property Damage
Performance data enables informed decisions to be made pertaining to the maintenance of the strainer.
Add Differential Pressure Monitoring to Any Install
Ready to connect? Your new strainer arrives with a connection-capable sensor. This sensor is turned on with
the purchase of an add-on Connection Kit. Once you’ve purchased, installed, and activated your Connection Kit,
you’ll receive real-time alerts that keep you ahead of slow performance, damaged equipment, and production downtime.
How it Works
Install your strainer as usual and find your Connection Kit
Purchase and install your Connection Kit to activate the differential
pressure monitoring technology
Enjoy reliable pressure monitoring and alerts via a wired or cellular connection with Syncta, the mobile app from Watts or your BAS/BMS
Can I upgrade any existing strainer with SentryPlus Alert smart strainer technology?
Yes, any drilled and tapped strainer in the field can be retrofit with SentryPlus Alert Technology. If the strainer is not drilled and tapped, contact your rep to get a quote on a new Smart Strainer model.
Does my new strainer include smart sensors?
All Duplex Basket Strainers sizes 2” and larger come standard with sensors included. Wye strainers, sizes 2” and larger that have the SM designation include sensors, while the standard models do not.
Does my strainer with sensor need a Connection Kit to work?
Yes, to activate your smart sensor on your strainers, you will need to look up, purchase and install the correct Connection Kit for your strainer.
Where does my data go?
If you connect via cellular gateway, your data will be viewable in your Syncta dashboard. If you choose a BMS Connection Kit, your data will populate to that system.
Contact your local rep or Mueller Steam Specialty Technical Support should you have any questions or require assistance.
Can I use smart strainer technology on my Watts Wye Strainer?
SentryPlus Alert Smart Strainer technology is currently only available for Mueller Steam Specialty Wye and Duplex Strainers.
Can the Sensor Control Module be installed outdoors?
No, the sensor control monitor cannot currently be installed outdoors.
Select Your Connection Kit to Activate your Strainer
Activated through these add-on Connection Kits, the sensor can trigger the alert system sending notification of a change in pressure to facility personnel.
