Oracle and Microsoft have expanded their partnership with the launch of Oracle Database@Azure.
Oracle Database@Azure provides customers with direct access to Oracle database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and deployed in Microsoft Azure data centers.
According to the companies, it delivers the performance, scale and workload availability advantages of Oracle Database on OCI with the security, flexibility and services of Microsoft Azure, including AI services like Azure OpenAI.
The new service provides customers with more flexibility when it comes to where they run their workloads. In addition, it provides a streamlined environment that simplifies cloud purchasing and management between Oracle Database and Azure services.
Oracle Database@Azure will support customers’ migration to the cloud, enabling them to modernize their IT environments and utilize Azure’s infrastructure, tooling and services.
Customers will have more options to move their Oracle databases to the cloud along with the simplicity and security of a single operating environment within Azure, among other benefits.

The service is designed to eliminate challenges in adopting multi-cloud architectures, such as disjointed management, siloed tools and a complex purchasing process.

Customers will be able to deploy their Azure services with their fully managed Oracle Database services all within a single data center. This includes support for Oracle Exadata Database services, Oracle Autonomous Database services and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
Oracle and Microsoft also announced they have developed a joint support model to provide rapid response and resolution for mission-critical workloads. Thanks to a recently simplified purchasing and contracting process, customers will be able to purchase Oracle Database@Azure through Azure Marketplace.
