Kleer and Membersy: Looking Ahead to a Bright Future for Dental Care
In a recent LinkedIn Live fireside chat, I had the opportunity to discuss the significant progress we've made since the merger of Kleer and Membersy last summer. I addressed the merger itself, shared data on how membership plans are helping to solve the patient dental care access problem, and explained how we obtained the required licenses to operate in all 50 states. I also talked about our vision for the future.
Navigating the merger and scaling for success
Bringing Kleer and Membersy together in May 2024 was a huge step, and like any merger, it presented its share of challenges. The most significant ones? People and culture. It's all about integrating two teams, building a stronger and more capable organization, and moving forward as one company. We are now on the other side of that transition, and I'm immensely proud of the culture that we have built and the solution and service that we provide to our customers. It’s truly in a class by itself.
One of the most surprising things about the merger was realizing that Kleer and Membersy were solving different problems despite being in the same market. Kleer focused on solo and emerging group practices, while Membersy worked more with DSOs and large groups.
The solutions we each created had some common elements, but the majority of features were very different because the two companies tailored their solutions to the needs of two distinct audiences. What an independent one-doctor office requires differs significantly from a nationwide DSO with 1,500 offices. By integrating our solutions, we've created a best-in-class solution that covers the needs of the entire spectrum of dental practices. It’s the best of both worlds!
The merger brought the two largest membership plan companies together. This is awesome because we can provide the best solution in the market. However, rapidly scaling while maintaining quality service is difficult. Our philosophy is simple: Hire great people, empower them, and give them the tools they need to succeed.
We started by finding the most capable people both inside and outside Kleer and Membersy. We then gave them the autonomy and authority to lead their part of the business. We followed that up with the funds needed to invest in the tools that help them succeed. This philosophy has enabled us to scale while delivering world-class service to our customers
Engaging uninsured patients through innovation and integration
One of dental care's biggest challenges and opportunities is servicing 80 million uninsured patients. With potential cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, this number could climb even higher. Uninsured patients rarely get the care they need because they are very concerned about the cost of care. Our mission is to bridge the gap between these patients and the care they need. We provide simple, easy-to-understand dental membership plans that give patients access to affordable care while giving practices control and a new path to growth.
Our platform stands out because of our team's dedication to service, the platform's ease of use, and our commitment to innovation. We're focused on automating processes, integrating with practice management systems (PMS), and providing valuable data and insights to practices. Our PMS integrations are key – they automate tasks, streamline workflows, and enable us to provide powerful tools like targeted marketing campaigns and performance tracking.
What’s ahead
Our vision is crystal clear: to enable practices to fill their schedules with cash-pay patients. We'll continue to innovate, specifically exploring AI's potential to propel us even further. We're also in the process of a rebrand that will better reflect our identity and future trajectory
A year from now, I look forward to celebrating the widespread recognition of the value of membership plans and their positive impact on practices and patients. The future of dental care is bright, and I'm filled with optimism. Thank you for being part of this journey!
