cP-RNA-Seq unveils the roles of 2′,3′-cyclic phosphate RNAs in RNA biochemistry

Download this note to learn more about cP-RNA-Seq and how it differs from traditional RNA-Seq methods

Our understanding of non-coding RNAs have been greatly propelled by the popularization of next generation sequencing. However, RNA-seq fails to capture a specific type of non-coding RNA called 2’,3’-cyclic phosphate RNA (cP-RNA). These RNAs have important roles in tRNA repair and splicing, and in RNA repair pathways in a wide variety of organisms.

Non-coding RNAs with 3′-cyclic phosphate termini are now being studied using recently devised cP-RNA-Seq methods. In addition to previously identified important cP-RNA roles, the new sequencing methods are revealing new roles in mRNA splicing, genetic disease, and aging.

  • RNA sequences and termini

  • Biological significance of 2′,3′-cyclic phosphate-terminated RNAs

  • Advantages of cP-RNA sequencing over traditional RNA sequencing
