Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Airport (RSI) has partnered with SITA to equip its Main Terminal Building with advanced technology.

As part of this collaboration, SITA will implement a range of advanced systems for the airport’s new Main Terminal Building.

This partnership builds on SITA’s prior success in deploying systems at RSI’s Air Taxi Terminal, ensuring a seamless transition and operational integration for the new terminal.

Red Sea International Airport
RSI will be able to serve an estimated one million domestic and international tourists per year by 2030 at a peak of 900 travellers per hour

Under this agreement, SITA will deploy solutions across key operational areas:

Passenger Processing — SITA Flex and the Maestro Departure Control System will streamline check-in and boarding processes.

Passengers will be able to use their mobile devices as a “remote control” for their journey, simplifying the travel experience.

Baggage Handling — SITA Bag Manager will enhance baggage reconciliation by tracking bags in real-time throughout the airport, providing peace of mind for passengers and freeing up staff for complex tasks.

Airport Operations — A suite of management solutions will enable data-driven decision-making, allowing RSI to reallocate resources swiftly and efficiently.

Meanwhile, SITA Information Display Systems will provide real-time flight updates to passengers.

Throughout this partnership, SITA will leverage its existing deployment at RSI’s Air Taxi Terminal, ensuring rapid implementation of specialised airport systems (SAS) in the Main Terminal. The interoperability of these systems will streamline operations, minimise costs, and support RSI’s focus on operational excellence.

Andrew Tyler Smith, Chief Guest Experience Officer at RSI said:

As the key gateway to The Red Sea destination, our vision is to integrate cutting-edge technological solutions that will make us a world-leading facility. Our aim is not only to enhance the guest experience from the moment of touchdown, but also to firmly establish our commitment to sustainability.

By leveraging advanced innovations, we aim to demonstrate our dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Technological innovation will be the backbone of our offering. In SITA we have found a trusted technology partner attuned to that mission and able to deliver the agile, reliable, and seamlessly interoperable solutions to make our vision a reality.

The partnership aims to enable RSI to deliver a smooth, digitally enhanced experience for passengers and ensure efficient airport operations.

By 2030, Red Sea International Airport (RSI) is projected to handle one million guests annually, with a peak capacity of 900 passengers per hour.

Selim Bouri, President, Middle East & Africa at SITA said:

As the region gears up to welcome more travellers than ever before, RSI’s Main Terminal Building rises to the challenge of welcoming them effectively and efficiently. Our comprehensive suite of solutions will ensure smooth operations for the airport’s teams while enhancing the passenger experience every step of the way.
