MAKE SURE THOSE ROADS ARE CLEAR. WHEN YOU THINK OF SPRING, THE CRUSH OF A SNOW PLOW LIKELY ISN’T THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND. YOU KNOW, IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, YOU NEVER KNOW. IN NEW ENGLAND IN GENERAL, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THE WEATHER IT CAN GO SIDEWAYS, THEY SAY, LIKE, IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE WEATHER, WHAT? WAIT 24 HOURS. BUT THIS APRIL SNOWSTORM, CREWS LIKE DEEGAN, KELLY’S FROM OUTDOOR PRIDE IN MANCHESTER ARE STAYING RIGHT ON TRACK. IT’S REALLY BEING READY FOR ANYTHING RIGHT? UM, THIS TYPE OF STORM, YOU CAN’T, YOU KNOW, SIT BACK AND MAKE A CALL ON THE FLY. THEY’D ALREADY STARTED WORKING ON SPRING LANDSCAPING, BUT THEY WERE READY FOR THIS CURVEBALL. I MEAN, WE’VE BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK A COUPLE TIMES AND EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF WEATHER, SO WE’VE KIND OF DEVELOPED SOME DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY AND PROCESSES SO THAT WE CAN STILL, YOU KNOW, LANDSCAPE. BUT CONTINUE TO KEEP OUR CLIENTS SAFE. IF WE DO HAVE A WINTER EVENT LIKE THIS. SUPERINTENDENT JACQUELINE CAUX, WHO OVERSEES SCHOOLS IN WEARE AND HENNIKER, SAYS ROAD CREWS USUALLY HELP HER DECIDE WHETHER TO CANCEL SCHOOL. ALWAYS YOU USE YOUR OWN JUDGMENT ABOUT YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION AND WITH POTENTIALLY A FOOT OF SNOW COMING THEIR WAY, SHE SAYS. IT’S SIMPLY BETTER TO KEEP FAMILIES OFF THE ROAD. IT’S IT’S EXASPERATING, BUT, UH, AT LEAST IT’S AN EASY CALL. IT’S EXASPERATING. SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE NEW ENGLANDER AND DPW CREWS ACROSS THE STATE ARE ALSO WARNING PEOPLE TO BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL ON DIRT ROADS BECAUSE PLOWS ARE GOING TO HAVE A HARD TIME CLEANING THEM BECAUSE THE ROADS AREN’T FROZEN. Although the calendar officially indicates that spring has started, the weather outside in New Hampshire seems to reflect otherwise.As this spring storm moves through, landscaping companies like Outdoor Pride in Manchester, are changing their spring cleaning tools back to their winter weather mode."You know in New Hampshire you never know in New England in general. You never know what the weather you can go sideways they say like if you don't like the weather, wait 24 hours," said Degen Kelly, Director of Operations for Outside Pride.>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play <<However, despite the curveball, Kelly said his team is ready to work through the night."We've been around the block a couple times and experienced this type of weather. We've kind of developed some different technology and processes so that we can still you know, landscape, and keep our clients safe through a winter event like this," Kelly said. SAU 24 Superintendent Jacqueline Coe, who oversees schools in Henniker and Weare, said that she often relies on road crews to help her decide whether or not to cancel school."Our community's been really great about we try to make the best decision we can with the information we have and our community's been really understanding about that," Coe said "Always you use your own judgment about your particular situation."However, with several inches of snow potentially hitting her area, she said the call, was not a difficult one."It's exasperating, but at least it's an easy call," Coe added.
