Trinseo’s Nordic Latex Binders sites received the certification from the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) following a thorough audit. With these recent certifications, we are pleased to offer mass balance certified Latex Binders products at our Latex Binders sites in Europe. These certifications contribute to our overarching sustainability strategy, ensuring responsible production practices across our Latex Binders operations.
Arthas Yang, Senior Vice President Latex Binders, stated, "This milestone underscores our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing for our business. By adhering to the rigorous standards set by ISCC+, we provide assurance of responsible sourcing and sustainable practices, reinforcing our dedication to environmental stewardship and innovation."
Achieving ISCC+ certification in the Nordics is increasingly important due to the region’s strong regulatory push for circular economy practices, sustainability, and transparency in bio and recycled content. Many Nordic customers and authorities favor ISCC+ certification for its rigorous chain of custody models, including segregated approaches, and its alignment with upcoming EU and national sustainability regulations.
The ISCC+ mass balance approach is a recognized system for tracking circular and bio-circular feedstock in the value chain. This method allows certified and non-certified materials to be processed together while ensuring that an equivalent volume of sustainable content is accounted for. Certification systems like ISCC+ set rules and conduct audits to ensure credibility, allowing Trinseo to provide Sustainability Declarations for validating sustainable content claims. This scientific methodology is widely used across many industries.
Trinseo's Nordic sites have facilities in Hamina, Finland, and Norrköping, Sweden. These sites are equipped with advanced manufacturing capabilities, enabling Trinseo to respond quickly and efficiently to market demands. The sites play a crucial role in Trinseo's sustainability initiatives, focusing on sustainable material production.
Other Trinseo facilities and products certified with ISCC+ include polystyrene at Tessenderlo, Belgium, and Schkopau, Germany; ABS, SAN, and Latex Binders and Compounding at Terneuzen, The Netherlands; ABS at Midland, Michigan in the USA; thermoplastic elastomers at Mussolente, Italy; SB and SA latex binders at Rheinmünster, Germany; PC compounds and TPE in HsinChu in Taiwan, ABS in Zhangjiagang in China, PS in Tsing Yi and Merak, Indonesia.
