About Barcud
But we’re more than just numbers – we’re a community of individuals, driven by a shared commitment to make a real difference. We strive to provide first class employment opportunities across a range of services and every penny we earn is reinvested into providing first-class homes, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the lives of the people who live and work here.
Tenants are at the heart of every decision we make and we have a strong and successful history of Tenant participation and involvement. Our Strategic Objectives align with this as we strive to provide affordable, energy-efficient homes for mid and west-Wales residents. Supporting tenants during the current challenging financial climate is a priority, and we are committed to working with tenant groups to focus on Barcud’s aims. The Association strives to achieve the highest possible regulatory standards to support our vision.
Our region has one of the largest populations of Welsh Speakers in Wales. The Welsh language is very important to us. We pride ourselves on providing opportunities to learn and encouraging our colleagues to confidently use their language of choice in all aspects of our daily working life
With three successful subsidiaries and a growing presence in mid and west Wales and beyond, Barcud offers a dynamic environment where vision, leadership, and innovation come together to shape the future of housing. As a Group – Housing Association and 3 subsidiary companies – we are a team of over 300 people.

About Care & Repair in Powys
At Care & Repair in Powys, we are a small, dedicated team of staff who are passionate about what we do to help older people.
We all share a commitment to making sure our clients are kept safe, warm and secure in their own homes. Our ‘patch’ is huge as Powys covers a quarter of the land mass of Wales and takes in some of the most remote rural areas in the country, meaning access to services can be difficult for the vulnerable people in our communities. Our unique home visiting service takes the support right to the individual’s front door.
Care & Repair in Powys is an independent non-profit making organisation with charitable purposes. We are registered with the Financial Services Authority as a Community Benefit Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.
We were established in 1988 to serve the three original shires of Powys (Brecknock, Radnor and Montgomeryshire) and merged into one organisation in 2003. We operate from one office located in Newtown.
We are a subsidiary company of Barcud and have a Board of Management to oversee the work of the Agency. We are affiliated to Care & Repair Cymru.
Care & Repair in Powys is funded by the Welsh Government through Care & Repair Cymru, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board and Barcud.
