American Pride Banner

American Pride® Veteran Care by Ohio’s Hospice: Honoring Service, Providing Superior Care

At Ohio’s Hospice, we believe Veterans deserve nothing less than superior care delivered with the dignity and honor they’ve earned. American Pride® Veteran Care by Ohio’s Hospice is our commitment to ensuring every Veteran patient receives specialized care that recognizes their unique service and sacrifice.

American Pride goes beyond traditional hospice care to address the specific needs of those who served our nation. This innovative program combines medical excellence with meaningful recognition, creating a care experience that honors the whole person—their service, their stories, and their legacy.

Our program provides:

  • Recognition Ceremonies: Every Veteran patient is invited to participate in a special recognition ceremony where they receive an American Pride pin, presented by a fellow Veteran volunteer who understands the significance of their service.
  • VA Benefits Assistance: Our team helps Veterans access all benefits they’ve earned, navigating complex systems to ensure they receive every resource available.
  • Specialized Spiritual Support: Chaplains trained in military culture provide spiritual care that respects each Veteran’s unique journey.
  • PTSD Support: Understanding that military service can leave lasting impacts, we provide specialized support for post-traumatic stress issues./li>
  • Connection to Community: Coordination with Honor Flight programs and participation in special military observances keep Veterans connected to their military family.

The Power of Veteran-to-Veteran Connection

What makes American Pride truly special is our dedicated team of Veteran volunteers. These men and women bring an irreplaceable element to our care—the understanding that comes only from shared service. When a Veteran volunteer presents the American Pride pin and offers a final salute during the recognition ceremony, it’s a moment of profound connection and closure.

Our Veteran volunteers provide:

  • Regular companionship visits.
  • A safe space for sharing military experiences.
  • Understanding of military culture and terminology.
  • Support for families learning about their Veteran’s service.

Many Veterans share stories with our volunteers that they’ve never told their families—burdens carried silently for decades. In these moments of connection, healing happens not just for the Veteran, but for their loved ones who gain new understanding of their service and sacrifice.

Celebrating Life’s Stories® of Service

Each Veteran has a unique story of service that deserves to be honored and preserved. Whether they served in peacetime or war, at home or abroad, every Veteran’s contribution to our nation’s security and freedom matters. American Pride ensures these stories are celebrated, not forgotten.

Family members frequently tell us that the recognition ceremonies provide unexpected healing and closure. Seeing their loved one honored for their service—sometimes for the first time—brings validation and pride to the entire family. These ceremonies become treasured memories during difficult times.

As a not-for-profit, community-based hospice, Ohio’s Hospice invests in programs like American Pride because it’s the right thing to do. We’re not driven by profit margins but by our mission to provide superior care and superior services to everyone we’re privileged to serve. For Veterans, this means creating a specialized program that addresses their unique needs and honors their extraordinary contributions.

Serving Those Who Served

Veterans facing life-limiting illness deserve care that recognizes their service while addressing their unique needs. American Pride Veteran Care by Ohio’s Hospice provides both—ensuring Veterans receive not just medical care, but the recognition, respect, and specialized support they’ve earned.
