Jenna Bush Hager helps ensure families of Le Bonheur never feel far from home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” co-host and former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager visited families and staff at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and FedExFamilyHouse last weekend ahead of her special appearance at the 13th annual FedExFamilyHouse Gala.

The event raises vital operating funds for FedExFamilyHouse, which provides free lodging to out-of-town-families with children being treated at Le Bonheur.

This year’s Gala raised $1.34 million.

According to a press release, since opening their doors in 2010, FedExFamilyHouse has served more than 382,000 family members from around the globe.

The hospital expects even more families will turn to FedExFamilyHouse with the opening of Le Bonheur Children’s 128,575 square foot Heart Institute and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) expansion that will grow their NICU, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and MRI capacities.

Hager met with surgical and anesthesia nurses during a tour of the expansion.

According to FedExFamilyHouseGala.org, the FedExFamilyHouse Gala is one of the region’s premier and most exclusive giving events, drawing in prominent supporters from across the nation, whose generosity contributes over $1 million annually.
