The image is surrounded by a thin white border. The Trafalger War Memorial commemorates the efforts of soldiers lost during World War One. British-born artist, Alfred Howell designed the monument. He claimed th final design was inspired by a dream. Howell also designed war memorials in Oshawa, Pembroke, and Sault Ste. Marie. The Committee that erected the monument included representatives from the Men's and Women's Canadian Club, the Trades and Labour Party, the Knights of Columbus, and City Council. George Drew (who had served during the war) was the committee's secetary. |
