Workforce Solutions Alamo Releases June 2025 Job Market Information
(July 18, 2025) San Antonio, Texas – Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) reports that the June 2025 unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is 3.8 percent, higher than the 3.7 rate reported in May 2025. The MSA unemployment rate increased by one-tenth (0.1) of a point over the month, however, the unemployment rate was three-tenths of a point (0.3) lower than the 4.1 rate from a year ago in June of 2024. The June 2025 unemployment rate for the San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is lower than the state’s not seasonally adjusted (actual) June 2025 rate of 4.1 percent. The Civilian Labor Force for the MSA increased by 4,966 individuals over the month and increased by 29,296 individuals over the year.

The Texas not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by 0.1, one tenth of a point, to reach 4.1 percent in June of 2025 from a May 2025 rate of 4.0. The unemployment rate was down by 0.4, four tenths of a point, from a year ago in June 2024, at a level of 4.5 percent.
The U.S. not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate climbed by four tenths of a point in June of 2025 to reach 4.4 percent from a May 2025 rate of 4.0. The rate was one tenth of a point (0.1) above the June 2024 level of 4.3 percent.
Texas & The Nation (Seasonally Adjusted Rates) Comparison
The Texas unemployment rate dipped to 4.0 percent in June of 2025 from a May 2025 level of 4.1 percent, which was the same rate seen a year ago in June of 2024.
The U.S. unemployment rate also dropped 0.1 points over the month to a rate of 4.1 percent in June of 2025 but was unchanged over the year with the same 4.1 rate in June of 2024.
In the San Antonio New Braunfels MSA, 23,100 jobs were added over the year at a 1.9 % growth rate. Seven major industries showed monthly gains: Private Education and Health Services, Trade Transportation and Utilities, Construction, Manufacturing, Leisure and Hospitality, Financial Activities, the Information industry, while Mining and Logging remained steady.
In June 2025, job losses occurred over the month in three major industries, Government, Professional and Business Services, and Other Services, but most of these industries achieved positive annual job gains.
