Interested in registering for one of our study days? Here are some useful tips to remember for when you would like to book a spot.
1. Book with plenty of notice
If you are waiting for funding approval, please don't hesitate to book a place, select the invoice option, and let us know you are waiting on funding approval. We are more than happy for you to secure a spot, but please make sure you communicate with the office.
2. Select the right payment option for you
We have two options for payment: 'pay now' via PayPal, and pay later via invoice. You do not need a PayPal account to submit your payment, as the PayPal system takes debit/credit card payments for non-PayPal account holders! If you are waiting for funding approval, then please select the invoice option; whichever option works for you is what matters - just remember, you have 30 days to make payment on your invoice!
3. Make sure to click submit
Once you have selected your payment method, don't forget to click submit! We would hate for you to miss out on a study day because the booking has not come through, so make sure to enter those details and finish your booking!
4. Study day is fully booked? What can you do?
We have recently been having some study days sell out of spaces, hence why these previous steps are so important to make sure you don't miss out. But don't worry, you can still contact us and request to be placed on the waiting list. Cancellations do happen at the last minute sometimes!

You can earn CPD points for free at any time by accessing our Online CPD portal.
The BMUS CPD programme uses articles from the BMUS Ultrasound journal which provides educational updates across a broad spread of ultrasound topics.
Each CPD article in the journal is accompanied online by 10 or more questions that will allow you to test your understanding of the article. These may be multiple-choice or true/false questions. The pass mark is 70% and you can re-sit the test multiple times to achieve this mark. Once you have achieved the pass mark, you will be given the option to complete a personal reflection. Your CPD certificate and personal reflection will then be emailed to you and be available to download, print and add to your portfolio
Please note: If you haven’t used this online CPD system before you will need to complete a registration page. You do not need to use the same password as your BMUS membership as it is a separate registration portal, but you may find it helpful to keep these both the same.

BMUS is delighted to announce the recent election of new BMUS Council Members.
Mr Colin Griffin - Consultant Sonographer, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
General Council Member Position
Colin has been an active member of BMUS for more than 10 years and wishes to continue to support BMUS further by offering advice and expertise to the BMUS Council, and on behalf of the wider ultrasound community. With many years of professional practice and experience as a Consultant Radiographer/Sonographer, both with BMUS and outside of BMUS, it is his strong belief that all users of ultrasound need to be represented by BMUS, and that BMUS is the best resource for ultrasound practitioner representation and support.
Colin has previously been a BMUS Council member, and is the current Editor-in-Chief of the BMUS journal, Ultrasound. He is also a member of the BMUS Professional Standards Group and the BMUS Education Group. Professor Robert Jarman - Consultant & Professor of Medical Ultrasound, Royal Victoria Infirmary & Teesside University
Medical Practitioner Council Member Position
Having started his ultrasound journey over 20 years ago, served two terms on the BMUS Council across 10 years, and chaired the BMUS Point-of-Care Ultrasound Group, Professor Robert “Bob” Jarman aims to work to support all ultrasound users, ensure that ultrasound continues to benefit patients, and promote the best evidence-based practice. In addition to supporting the community of all ultrasound users, Bob also wants to attract potential sonographers into ultrasound.
Bob believes that, like all ultrasound users, clinicians adopting point-of-care ultrasound should be well trained and practice to a high standard. In addition, technology improvements, such as artificial intelligence, should be welcomed but properly evaluated. Dr Prashant Verma - Clinical Scientist, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
Physicist Council Member Position Dr Prashant Verma has worked in medical ultrasound for over 30 years in research, clinical and service roles. He has been a member of the IPEM Ultrasound Special Interest Group, and is currently a member of the NHSBSP Physics Committee for mammography physics.
Prashant is the present Chair of the BMUS Physics & Safety Committee, and, by joining the BMUS Council, aims to participate and contribute to wider discussions within BMUS and be more directly involved in shaping BMUS strategy going forward.
