Peter Jay Sharp, Class of 1952, Curator and Lecturer in the Art of the Ancient Americas (D-25-UAM-00002)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the next Peter Jay Sharp, Class of 1952, Curator and Lecturer in the Art of the Ancient Americas. The Curator will shape the display, interpretation, growth, and care of the Museum's Art of the Ancient Americas collections. As the Museum prepares to open a dramatically reconceived new building in the fall of 2025, the Curator will lead gallery installations, exhibitions, publications, research, and acquisitions, and provenance research for the Ancient Americas collections. The Curator will also teach regularly in the Department of Art and Archaeology and/or the Program in Latin American Studies. 

The successful candidate will have expertise in the art of the ancient Americas, an interest in Latin American art after 1600, and the enthusiasm to collaborate broadly across collection areas. Working within a team environment, the Curator will partner with conservators and educators, supervise research assistants, and mentor interns and students. They will prioritize the Museum's commitment to cultural property law, ethics, research, and transparency, working closely with the Curator of Provenance; will serve as a voice on campus in discussions about collecting histories; and will create partnerships with descendant communities and research institutions in Latin America. The Curator will embrace the possibilities of a public-facing museum and will communicate effectively with both scholarly and broad audiences. 

A PhD in art history, anthropology, or a related field is required for this position. Applicants must have at least four years' curatorial experience; a strong record of scholarly publications; and a growing network across collectors and museums in the US and Latin America. Familiarity with donor engagement and collections management and proven teaching abilities are essential. Appointment level (associate/full curator) and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Senior Gallery Educator (2025-20686)

The Sr. Gallery Educator (SGE) reports to the Senior Manager of Engagement (SME).  The SGE is responsible for working with the SME to advance the Museum’s objectives for gallery and community education.  The SGE is responsible for developing, writing, and overseeing the production of the Museum’s self-guided tours, in-gallery education materials, and teacher resources, including family and K-12 activities.  The SGE will oversee the recruiting and training of Museum docents, emphasizing learner-driven activities designed to develop close looking and critical thinking skills.  The SGE will work with the SME to recruit, train, and supervise the Museum’s Gallery Fellows.  The SGE, Gallery Education Fellows, and Museum docents will lead the K-12 school tours in the galleries and conduct programs in local schools.  The SGE is responsible for overseeing and growing the Museum’s long-standing program with the Trenton elementary schools and will collaborate with the Audience Engagement Specialist to broaden and deepen the Museum’s relationship with schoolteachers and administrators.

Collections Systems Administrator (2025-20661)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Collections Systems Specialist (CSS). The CSS is responsible for the analysis, manipulation, and integration of the complex cultural heritage datasets residing primarily in two Museum systems of record: the collections information system - The Museum System (TMS) and the digital asset management system - ResourceSpace. The position is responsible for database management and backend support for both systems, including data extraction, data batching, report writing, and advanced SQL query development.  The position is also responsible for the integration of data among TMS, the Museum's API, and ResourceSpace, with the potential for additional integrations with other systems, including but not limited to the Museum’s website CMS, Airtable, and OnBase. Other areas of responsibility include the documentation of all related data extraction and integrations, logs and quality assurance monitoring, and periodic system upgrades to TMS and ResourceSpace.  

Working in a team environment for the Department of Communication and Information, the CSS will report to the Sr. Manager of Data Operations and work in close coordination with the Manager of Art Information and their team, the Museum Application developers, and other staff members across the Museum.

Creativity Lab Supervisor (2025-20728)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Creativity Lab Supervisor (CLS) to support the Manager of Visitor Experience (MVE) in overseeing the Creativity Labs’ programmatic schedule, activities, and daily operations. Opening in October 2025, the Creativity Labs offer creative opportunities for visitors to engage with the Museum through participatory art-making, writing, and reflection activities that foster inquiry, empathy, wellness, and imagination. The CLS collaborates across Museum departments to plan and write instructions for activities; support Princeton University teaching requests; plan audience-specific programs; and develop and teach K-12 art lessons to accompany the in-gallery curriculum. The CLS assesses the impact of programs through various evaluation methods.  

The CLS oversees the daily operations of the Creativity Labs, including hiring, training, and supervising a team of facilitators. The CLS is expected to work regular shifts in the Creativity Labs. As part of the Education Team, the CLS is responsible for ensuring that the Creativity Lab Team provides a welcoming and engaging experience for all visitors, promoting an atmosphere of teamwork, innovation, integrity, inclusiveness, and respect.

Venue Manager, Art Museum complex (2025-20809)

A member of the Performing Arts Services division of Campus Support Services, the Venue Manager for the Art Museum complex coordinates a cross-departmental service team providing a broad range of facility and daily operational support for the Art Museum complex. With high visibility and a proactive approach, the Manager provides one-stop facilities services, including logistical and technological support for classes, events, gatherings, and seminars. The Venue Manager serves as the central service resource for the Art Museum, the department of Art and Archaeology, and the Marquand Library in the complex, advocating for and representing their priorities, needs, and guidelines for space use.

The Venue Manager, serving as the primary contact for all needs within the Art Museum complex, coordinates a team of service providers, including Building Services and Campus Dining. The Manager supervises a Venue Associate who assists the Manager with the daily operational support of the complex.

The Venue Manager provides support for events, assisting internal event planners with logistical planning, setup planning and implementation, coordination of service providers, guest services, and technical support.

Visitor Experience Representative I - Temporary (2025-20927)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Visitor Experience Representative I (VER I) to work at Art@Bainbridge, a gallery housed in the carefully restored colonial-era Bainbridge House at 158 Nassau Street, and the new Art Museum building, opening Fall 2025. This visitor-focused position provides the opportunity to welcome visitors to the newly constructed Art Museum, inspire curiosity and connection with the Museum’s expansive collections, support a dynamic exhibition program, and promote an array of educational initiatives.  Gallery Educator Fellow (2025-20944)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Gallery Education Fellow. Reporting to the Senior Gallery Educator, the Gallery Education Fellow will serve as a liaison between the Museum and school audiences (grades K to 12) and with the public, affording structured education experiences in the galleries built on age-specific content and current teaching methodologies.  The Gallery Education Fellow may travel to local schools to conduct lessons in the classroom a few times per semester.  They will assist the Gallery Educator and the Senior Gallery Educator in managing group tour reservation requests. They will work a non-traditional work schedule that includes one weekend day and one evening per week: either Sunday-Thursday, including Thursday 12–8 p.m., or Tuesday-Saturday, including Friday 12–8 p.m.

Senior Visitor Experience Representative Data Specialist (2025-20919)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Senior Visitor Experience Representative (Senior VER), Data Specialist, to join the Visitor Experience Team (VET) with a focus on visitor data and evaluations. 
This visitor and data-focused position will support a dynamic exhibition program and an array of education initiatives that continue to grow in energy and impact each year, particularly in the lead up to the opening of the new Art Museum building in Fall 2025. Senior VERs are responsible for promoting an inclusive and engaging experience for all visitors, modeling behavior for members of the VET, and supporting a variety of mission-driven projects within the Art Museum. The VET currently supports the daily operations of Art@Bainbridge, the Museum’s downtown gallery, and will expand its visitor support roles in the new Museum building. 

The preferred candidate will be a confident leader and enthusiastic colleague who can seamlessly navigate between routine and daily operations-related tasks and longer-term projects with time-sensitive deadlines, while providing high-level visitor support and embracing a flexible mindset to adapt to the needs of the moment. The Senior VER Data Specialist will support the Museum’s visitor data and evaluation initiatives, including tracking attendance, developing tools to assess visitor experiences and satisfaction, analyzing the data, and producing reports to effectively communicate key findings. The Senior VER must be detail-oriented, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be adept at using a variety of software platforms. As a member of the Education Team, the Senior VER will lead by example and promote an atmosphere of teamwork, innovation, integrity, inclusiveness, and respect.

Museum Store Sales Associate - Temporary (2025-20954)

We have immediate openings for casual Museum Store staff for our store located at 56 Nassau Street in Palmer Square, Princeton, and the new Art Museum building, opening Fall 2025. This is an ongoing, temporary position that requires a minimum of 16 hours up to 32 hours per week, or approximately 2-4 shifts.

Museum Facilities Assistant (2025-20952)

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks a highly effective Museum Facilities Assistant to join a team that supports the Museum's facilities and staff. They will work closely with the Associate Director for Finance and Operations, the Museum Facilities Manager, the Facilities Team, the Security Operations Manager, the Head of Art Museum Security Supervisor, and the Museum Event Team. The Museum Facilities Assistant will assist with all aspects of maintaining the Museum's facilities, including maintenance of Museum spaces (multiple locations) such as light carpentry and electrical work, and light custodial work; set-up for special events; ordering and picking up supplies; painting building spaces; taking and maintaining inventory of non-art items and publications at the Museum and offsite storage facilities; driving and moving non-art items to and from storage; painting galleries and pedestals; changing light bulbs and fixtures in non-public areas; scheduling usage and maintenance of Museum vehicles; and other duties as assigned.
