Sustainable paint brand Graphenstone has launched The Colour Collection, a new 120-strong colour card created in collaboration with English Heritage, the charity that cares for over 400 of England’s most iconic sites.

This carefully curated collection includes 24 exclusive English Heritage shades inspired by some of the charity’s properties.

The 24 new colours were developed using scanned data from original wallpapers, fabrics, furniture and painted finishes found throughout English Heritage’s portfolio, including Wrest Park in Silsoe, Bedfordshire and Kenwood House, Eltham Palace, Marble Hill and Chiswick House and Gardens in London.

Paint shades include:

  • Mah-Jongg Warm grey inspired by the Courtauld family’s pet lemur Mah-Jongg, who lived at Eltham Palace in the 1920s.
  • Kenwood Cream Light, traditional neutral reflecting the Georgian exterior of Kenwood.
  • Smalt Blue Deep, royal blue drawn from the gates at Chiswick House and from the historic pigment used by artists such as Vermeer and Turner.
  • Golden Pheasant Rich, warm yellow referencing the wallpapered bedroom suites at Wrest Park.
  • Chinoiserie Beautifully soft, light yellow, a Chinese wallpaper reimagined by luxury interiors firm de Gournay that can be seen in Marble Hill’s Dining Parlour.
  • Mansfield's Blue Sophisticated, green-toned blue matched to the bedchamber of William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield, at Kenwood.
  • Eldorado Clean blue that nods to the 19th-century wallpaper by French firm Zuber at Wrest Park, inspired by the flora and fauna of Africa, Asia, Europe and America.

All colours in the new collection will be available in Graphenstone’s reusable Peel & Stick colour samples. Made using 30 per cent recycled materials and using approximately 94 per cent less paint than traditional sample pots, they offer a cleaner and more sustainable way to test colours.

A proportion of the proceeds from each tin sold will go directly to English Heritage, supporting the charity’s ongoing conservation and restoration efforts, helping to preserve these historic sites for generations to come.
