Machine Learning Cloud Hosting Case Study: Radiance AI's Marketing Image Revolution

The Background:

Radiance AI, a member of the OVHCloud US Startup Program, has developed generative AI technology that transforms standard product photography into stunning lifestyle images for sales and marketing use cases. Many entrepreneurs lack the big budgets needed to hire a creative agency to develop high-quality product photography, video, and 3D models of their products. Radiance AI founder Muzahid Hussain saw an opportunity to develop a product that could bridge the gap by using AI to create incredibly realistic imagery for product sales and marketing.

Based on generative AI technology, the Radiance AI Product Studio can take a single or small amount of product images on a plain background and generate lifestyle imagery complete with unique and specified backgrounds, human virtual models, stylized branding, props, and more. Radiance AI’s technology works by loading several product images for the core to analyze using a specific set of machine learning algorithms and creates a map, also known as the diffusion model. The platform then uses maps as a data set, which supports machine learning libraries that run on top of the GPUs or the cloud services.

With this technology, the studio requires a small amount of configuration to create workflows that can transform an entire catalog of images into fully produced, ready-to-use content. This process dramatically streamlines the time it takes to go from product development and production to online product availability.

The Challenge:

Like many startups, the developers at Radiance AI understood that to build this product to scale and to engineer it with the performance needed, it would require a large amount of computing power. “I would say right from the very beginning it was very clear that we need a powerful compute engine for our machine learning training and inference to build our high-grade image generation platform,” said Muzahid.

After months of research into various computing solutions, Radiance AI contacted the team at VMware Tanzu to discuss the platform and if it would work for what they needed. As this conversation developed, VMware made an introduction to the OVHcloud US Startup Program. Once Radiance AI learned about all the advantages of working with OVHcloud US, in addition to the computing solutions they were looking for, Radiance AI signed up for the startup program.

The Solution:

Based on Radiance AI’s needs, OVHcloud US recommended they leverage the private cloud to handle the development of their platform. Private cloud with OVHcloud US offers access to high-end CPUs and GPUs that can handle the computer power needed by Radiance AI’s machine learning capabilities, at an affordable price.

“We were initially searching for specific access to high-end GPUs which are critical for machine learning training, but after discussing, we were very attracted to the startup program’s offerings. OVHcloud US offered personalized startup support which we found made a big difference in resolving any of our technical bottlenecks. Things like quick approval times for added services and compute power, the additional assistance, affordability of the GPUs, and transparency with the cloud credits helped us to propel at the early stages of a startup,” Muzahid added.

Since entering the OVHcloud US startup program, they have been impressed with nearly all parts of the process. Muzahid added “What's great about the OVHcloud US solutions we’re using today is knowing you’re making your cloud management life easier and making big improvements with your solutions. Simple cloud management by OVHcloud was fantastic compared to what we saw with other services. It has such a simple interface, even our interns can jump right in and monitor very quickly.”

The team is currently using a few GPU machines, but Radiance AI has plans for significant expansion into a combination of private and public cloud solutions to extend the capabilities of the GPU cluster.

“I would definitely recommend OVHcloud US, especially its compute resources and the personalized startup support they provide,” Muzahid said. “We were searching through many different startup programs for months and although everybody we considered could provide access, they didn't have the high-grade GPUs we were looking for which are so critical for generative AI applications.
