Celebrate Juneteenth Across Maryland

Let freedom ring as we celebrate emancipation and the journey towards justice and equality.

Juneteenth Flag

Juneteenth, our newest national holiday, commemorates the final emancipation of the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. We celebrate this day with parades, festivals, and a spirit of unity and equity, with events all across Maryland.

Join us as we kick off a week of Juneteenth celebrations in and around Baltimore with a 5K Run/1 Mile Walk across the Hanover Street Bridge. Connecting the communities of Port Covington and Cherry Hill, the route crosses the Bridge, makes a short loop in Middle Branch Park, then heads back over the bridge. Start and finish will be at the magnificent Port Covington Park. Proceeds from the event will support the college entrance and completion efforts for SEED students through the College Transition & Success Program. The Juneteenth 5K is a "shine-only" event and in the case of rain the race will go virtual. Your registration fee will be treated as a donation if we go virtual and you choose not to participate in the virtual race.
