Students and teachers from Sacred Heart Girls’ College, Hughesdale, attended yesterday’s Palm Sunday walk for justice, kindness and a fair go for refugees. In this Jubilee Year, as pilgrims of hope, members of the school community put their faith and hope into action.
As part of the presentations to the large crowd in the CBD, social justice leaders from Sacred Heart Girls’ College and other schools displayed large letters spelling out the word ‘kindness’. This is a timely reminder that all people have the right to a safe place to call home, and we must protect asylum seekers and refugees.
Prominent speakers at the event included Prof Gillian Triggs AC and Sr Brigid Arthur AO from the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project.
Students at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) schools are encouraged to see the dignity and worth of every person, and to make a positive impact on the world around them.
