Strength training isn’t just for men anymore. And you don’t have to spend hours lifting weights in order to have a strong core. Practicing Yoga positions for just a few minutes a day does so much to strength your body. This Father’s Day, invite Dad to join you in training with a Aurorae Yoga Backpack and Mat. Working out together not only helps you build your bodies, it helps you strengthen your relationship. Consider it a win – win activity.
About Aurorae Yoga
Aurorae is a family business, popular active lifestyle e-retailer, and yoga mat company founded in 2009 by yoga student and cancer survivor, Dennis Ingui.
Cancer-free for more than 15 years, Ingui started practicing yoga as an outlet in his life to help build his body and develop inner peace of mind. Aurorae’s flagship Classic Yoga Mats became the top-rated yoga mats on Amazon.com after less than a year in operation quickly making Aurorae one of the top yoga mat companies in the country. What started out as a hobby grew into an enjoyable venture for Ingui and his family. You can click here to read the full story about how our founder decided to start Aurorae, where the name came from and what his vision for the company is.
Aurorae Multi-Purpose Yoga Backpack
This is the perfect yoga and multi purpose backpack. It fits on your body as a standard backpack but has a top loading, center mat locking system that holds your yoga mat in place. Made from a heavy duty fabric with shoulder straps that are padded and adjustable for a comfortable fit. Inside it have a padded laptop compartment and a mesh zippered pocket. It really is a multi purpose backpack that you can use all the time.
Aurorae Synergy Yoga Mat-Towel
This Yoga Mat Towel is really a 2 in 1 mat. It is made “ultra long” for those that need a little more length. Measuring 78″ long x 26″ wide, it is a solid foundation to practice on and easier to stay on if you are taller than ordinary mats. Made from lightweight materials, it is a super durable non slip mat. Because this yoga mat is longer than standard mats, even someone over six feet tall will have enough room to rest between stretching and not hang off the mat.
One side of the yoga mat grips the flooring while the other side is soft and supportive. It won’t slide around and is easy to clean when needed.
My Thoughts
Last fall my daughter started having back troubles and was really uncomfortable most of the time. She visited several doctors but nothing ever showed up that could be directly related to her discomfort. She was already in good physical shape and enjoyed working out several times a week. It was suggested that her physical weight training may have been what was causing her issues and her physical therapist recommended trying Yoga training instead of free weights.
Well, it wasn’t long before she was sold. Through the daily position training she was able to strength her core (which ended up being the source of her back trouble) to the point that she no longer had any discomfort in her back.
Fast forward several months, and one day her husband complained of his back bothering him after long days at work. He is on his feet upwards of 10-12 hours a day. She recommended he start working out with her and try to build his core muscles which in turn will help his body hold up to the daily stress of being on his feet for hours at a time.
Make training together fun
Honestly, it was hysterical watching him learn how to stretch and start to learn the positions. After working out together a couple of times, he had to admit that he was using muscles he didn’t know he even had! He says he is, “a work in progress – one that will take a lot of work”. Some of the positions are challenging for him right now as you can see by his attempt to do the Garland Pose.
My daughter is glad she invited him to train with her since it is easier and more enjoyable to do things together. They both say they have never laughed as much together.
This Father’s Day, invite Dad to join in Yoga training with you. If you are not already a Yogi, the two of you can learn together. There are several videos for beginners getting started online. It can be time that is spent building your bodies and your relationship. Neither of which can ever be too strong!
