In honour of Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month this May, we’re hosting a very special webinar featuring an inspiring guest speaker: Alex Fisher. Alex is a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) within the West Midlands Neuropsychiatry Service in the UK, which also encompasses the Regional Huntington’s Disease (HD) Service. In 2022, she was honoured with the inaugural Health & Social Care Excellence award from the Huntington's Disease Association (HDA). In addition to her clinical role, Alex is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and HD Module Lead for the MSc Neuropsychiatry course at the University of Birmingham and teaches OT on the HDA’s Professional Course. In 2022, Alex began volunteering for Factor H, a humanitarian charity supporting individuals with HD in Latin America. She was invited to lead the Caregiver project in Venezuela and, in late 2024, received the Amgen Prize for Rare Diseases for her innovative solution. She is currently taking a year off from her clinical duties to focus on this project; Venezuela has the highest incidence of HD in the world.
