Jay was one of the most enthusiastic people I´ve ever known. He was a great professor and encouraged me through school at the AAC and into the beginning of my career. His loss will be felt by many. I hope his family and friends find some comfort in knowing he has left so much positivity through the lives he impacted.

Jay was my Art History professor at AAC. I learned much about the visual arts by studying art history...it was a real eye opener for me and Jay was the one who opened my eyes. May his soul rest in peace.

Jay was a wonderful professor and person. He was a corner stone to my years at the AAC. His love of art history and his calm, caring nature made me and many others feel welcome and at home on our first foray into the adult world. His memory will be cherished.

I can still remember him rubbing his bearded chin and holding that pointer looking around at the class as he just gave us something to ponder about. Rest in Peace.

Jay was an extremely impactful part of my development at the AAC. He challenged me in intellectual ways that helped me shape my own understanding of life and art. He always brought a passion and spirit in helping others unfold themselves, instead of trying to prescribe any one idea to you. He led his classes with a high expectation and with that always came a high reward. Easily one of the best! My best wishes to Jays family and loved ones!

Jay added a dimension to my art education that was and is still profound on many levels. The joy in which he facilitated his educational contribution leaves a lasting impression in my life as an artist and educator.

Today, I join many in mourning the loss of Jay Zumeta, a truly impactful figure in the world of art history. Jay´s passion for exploring and sharing the profound narratives within art has not only enriched my understanding of history but also shaped my career across various fields. Reflecting on his influence, Jay inspired my journey and I am sure countless others, encouraging us to see the world through a broader and more profound lens.
Jay´s dedication to art history wasn´t just about analyzing the past; it was about cultivating a vision for the future and understanding human experiences across time. His legacy will continue to guide me in recognizing the connections between art, history, and community impact, helping me carry forward his vision in my own careers and life.
Thank you, Jay, for everything.

I will always remember what a supportive colleague he was. It is not to say that there were no pedagogical differences. However, Jay was always willing to listen, talk through ideas, teach me, and ultimately, put students first. I cherish the time I had with him.
