I hope all’s well with everyone as we enjoy this rather cool summer. I love it!

Baiting Hollow Congregational Church’s annual chicken barbecue will take place Saturday, Aug. 2. If you’ve never gone, you should. Chicken with all the trimmings will make you content. Takeout will be available. The rain date is Aug. 3 but hopefully that won’t be needed. Enjoy!

Kent Animal Shelter has had lots of good stuff going on recently. Volunteer inmates from the Suffolk County Corrections Department donated their time, expertise and labor to freshen up the shelter’s building and grounds. The program, under Sheriff Vincent DeMarco, offers inmates an opportunity to perform good works and provide skilled labor that might otherwise be out of reach for community organizations. Some of the work included tree removal, fencing, roof repair, cleaning, painting and staining. Thanks to all for an awesome job!

Award-winning artist Maria Valdivia painted two whimsical murals for Kent recently that will soon be on display. Maria is a 2014 Riverhead High School graduate. Many thanks to you for your wonderful work, Maria!

The Peconic Lake Estates Civic Organization will host a community yard sale Saturday, Aug. 9, at 8:30 a.m. on South River Road in Calverton. You will find lots of good stuff there, so go shopping!

A very happy birthday to Cayleigh Orlowski, who celebrated July 20, with lots of love from your mom and dad and your big brother, Cormac. We hope you had a great day! Cayleigh’s parents, Kerin and Steve, will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary Aug. 7. We wish this great couple much love and continued happiness. Congratulations!

Happy 1st birthday to my grandson, Aiden, who is just the sweetest little man. Gramma Amma, mommy and daddy, your big sister, Julia, and Auntie Jamie love you so much! Happy birthday, honey!

That is all for this time. Be safe, have fun, and I’ll talk to you next time. Bye.
