A WORCESTERSHIRE flooring specialist held a fundraising day on the golf course in aid of Birmingham's Children Hospital.

Karndean Designflooring raised £5,000 at the event held at Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel and Golf Club in Tewkesbury.

The UK market leader in luxury vinyl flooring was joined by more than 100 retailers, contractors and suppliers at its annual charity golf day, including Uzin, Horwich Carpets and C&C Flooring.

Money was raised on the day through donations and a live charity auction, with top prizes on offer including two tickets to the 154th Open Golf Championship at Royal Liverpool, golf break for two at The Belfry and Red Letter Day hotel break for two.

Paul Barratt, managing director of Karndean Designflooring, said: "We are delighted to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital by raising vital funds to support the lifesaving work they offer as a centre of paediatric excellence in the UK.

"It’s a great event for building relationships with our customers and suppliers, but at the same time an opportunity for us to raise awareness and funds for a charity close to our hearts.

"We would like to say a big thank you to all who attended and helped us beat our original fundraising target of £3,000."

Now in its 40th year of business Karndean has been marking the milestone by focusing on giving back with their 40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes appeal.

And Birmingham Children’s Hospital has been selected as a good cause by Karndean’s own judging panel to receive a free Karndean floor this year.
