The UN Development Programme chief answered your questions on poverty, war, the climate and gender equality

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) fights poverty and gender inequality, helps to build democratic societies, and deals with crisis prevention and recovery in more than 170 countries.

Each year it compiles a human development report and index, which ranks human wellbeing by measuring inequality, education, life expectancy and income. The UNDP's latest study focuses on increasing the resilience of the world's poorest people, many of whom reside in strife-stricken states.

To mark the launch of the report, Global Development hosted a Twitter question and answer session with the head of the UNDP, Helen Clark. Here are some of the highlights:
