    If you are in your car, you can always tune in on the FM dial using the frequencies above. But if you’re out of our broadcast area or want to play LAist 89.3 on demand and your car supports either Apple’s CarPlay or Android Auto, we recommend using the LAist app. You can listen live and also listen back to shows you might have missed, as well as have access to our award-winning podcasts.     Why can't I say "play LAist" to my smart speaker?

    • Ironically, smart speakers aren’t exactly “smart” in that they have trouble with non-dictionary words such as “LAist.” To get around that, the services must be “trained” to recognize it. We are actively working with NPR, Amazon, Apple, and Google to get this training in place, but in the meantime, we recommend sticking with our call letters “KPCC” as that works more reliably right now.

    No problem . LAist 89.3 will work with your smart speaker. Just use the following commands:
