From Parking Permits to Letterhead to Social Media, UK Celebrates 150 Years

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 22, 2014) — The University of Kentucky's sesquicentennial is quickly approaching and programs across campus are beginning to celebrate the institution's 150 years of higher education in the Commonwealth. UK will turn 150 years old in 2015.

As part of the celebration, faculty, staff and students may notice several changes commemorating the milestone. This summer UK Parking and Transportation Services began issuing new permits to users with the sesquicentennial logo on them.

Sesquicentennial logos are being used on institutional letterhead from many of the university's departments and programs and in email signatures. The university invites the campus community to use these logos now through December 2015. Sesquicentennial logos for UK can be downloaded under "150th Logos" here: www.uky.edu/Graphics/download.htm. Users will need to use their LinkBlue information to access the files.

In addition, UK's sesquicentennial is being celebrated on social media with posts on the anniversary utilizing the hashtag #UK150. Sharing your memories of yesterday, today or tomorrow for the institution? Join in the celebration and use the hashtag #UK150.
