"Obviously with any mum my I'd lost a lot of hair with my babies, but it didn't start to grow back. I eventually went to the top guy in London and it was the most horrendous appointment.

"He got this massive magnifying glass out and was going through my hair and he said 'I'm really sorry to tell you but you have the balding gene'.

"He explained to me that you don't just lose hair because you are getting older you have the balding gene or you don't. Not everybody loses their hair."

Nadia revealed she is upset about the idea of losing her gorgeous curls: "It is just devastating for me. I am really, really worried about it. I don't know what to do because I do define myself with my hair. I feel really shallow about it."

The mum-of-two said she "felt guilty" about her fears as she "didn't have cancer why am I worrying about it, I'm still here", but her fellow colleagues reassured her it was a natural thing to worry about.

Ruth revealed that eight million women in the UK suffer from hair loss due to cancer and all other sorts of reasons, 90 per cent of women say they feel defined by their hair.
