Cellcom Green Bay Marathon adds new event for 2017

by

The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is excited to announce a new race for 2017. The weekend of events will now include a half marathon relay, allowing teams of two to take on the 13.1-mile half marathon course.

“We’re proud to offer a variety of events to give runners of all ages and experience levels a chance to join us each year. The half marathon relay adds a medium distance option for runners who may be looking to go beyond the 5K, but aren’t quite ready to take on the 13.1-mile distance. ” said Toni Jaeckels, race director for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. “There’s also the built-in perk of committing with a friend, which is great motivation for training.”

The half marathon relay will start with the half marathon on Sunday, May 21 and include a designated area for teams to exchange near the half-way point of the course. Teams will then be able to reunite for the final lap around Lambeau and cross the finish line together.

Registration for this new event is now open, along with registration for the other weekend events, which include a full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K and WPS Kids’ Power Run. From now until January 4, registration for the half marathon relay is $115, the marathon is $85, half marathon is $75, and the marathon relay is $250 per team. Adult 5K registration is $25 and youth registration is $15. WPS Kids’ Power Run registration is $10. Elite marathon registration and registration for the Prevea Luv2Run program will open at a later date.

Another new feature in 2017 will be the option to purchase a Fast Track Athlete entry during registration. This perk is available for Sunday’s events and includes race day packet pick-up, fast access to post-race food, beverage and massage tent, preferred parking and more. Fast Track access will be limited and cost is $50.

“We’re always looking for ways to take the runner experience to the next level and the Fast Track Athlete program will give some of our distance runners added convenience on race day,” said Jaeckels.
