Tonight “Nightline” kicks off a three-part series that presents a wide-ranging look at reparations, examining what America owes Native Americans, Mexican Americans and descendants of the enslaved, what some form of “repair” could look like and the impact it could have in cities like Asheville, N.C., that are enacting reparations statutes.

It is part of a larger month-long “Nightline” reporting event, which launched Sept. 8, called “Turning Point” which examines the racial reckoning sweeping the nation and tries to answer whether it leads to lasting reconciliation.

The following two advanced clips include a special animated video, narrated by “The View” moderator Whoopi Goldberg, explaining what reparations is, and a clip of Priscilla Ndiye Robinson of Asheville, North Carolina who describes her experience with segregation and Urban Renewal.
