Are we on the verge of finally seeing Sting on WWE's flagship show? (No, not the talented singer/songwriter; the other guy.)

There has been buzz surrounding a potential WWE-Sting deal for several months now, with the interest skyrocketing last week when the WCW legend posted a tantalizingly cryptic tweet on his official Twitter account, citing the date of Monday's edition of Raw.

Many fans and critics wondered: What could this possibly mean?

Well, over at PWInsider.com, Mike Johnson has revealed crucial details, reporting that the mystery tweet likely refers to Sting's involvement with upcoming wrestling video game WWE 2K15:

Today is 7/14/14, the date Sting teased on his Twitter last week. The belief is that some sort of campaign will begin on Raw, ending with the announcement that Sting will be part of the WWE 2K15 video game being released by 2K Sports this October for a number of gaming platforms.

So, the good news for all you Sting fans is that you can expect to see your hero in some form or another on Raw.

The former TNA champion making such a high-profile video game also bodes well for his WWE status and any potential future he has in the company. Management would not be giving him the red carpet treatment if it didn't consider him a big-name legend, on par with Hulk Hogan, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson or Steve Austin.

Will the 55-year-old be making a live, physical appearance, though? His first ever for the company?

That seems to be more doubtful.

Such an occurrence would obviously be a huge deal, and it would likely garner some decent ratings too. Vince McMahon and his team of creative writers would therefore want to hype and promote it as much as humanly possible. Would they really throw Sting out there with no prior advertising? It's unlikely, isn't it?
