Autumn highlights in Cornwall

27.06.2016

It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place to visit in autumn than Cornwall. The beautiful blue seas are still mild in temperature and the countryside transforms into an array of autumn tints. The summer crowds disperse and the winding streets and roads become quiet and secluded which make it a perfect time to explore the county. Here’s our ‘insiders guide’ to the best things to do and our favourite places to explore this autumn…

Life’s a beach
With a dramatic coastline stretching for over 250 miles, Cornwall has no shortage of beaches and coves to discover. Enjoy some fresh sea air, breathtaking views and even take a quick dip in the sea. Our favourite beaches to explore are: Porthcothan, Daymer Bay and Swanpool.

Artistic flair
Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden in St Ives is a great day out for all art enthusiasts. The museum and garden offers a fantastic insight into the work and outlook of one of Britain’s most important twentieth century artists. With sculptures in bronze, stone and wood in the museum and garden, along with paintings, drawings and archive materials, there is plenty to see. Good Cornish art can also be found much closer to home, there are a large number of galleries in the heart of Padstow for you to explore.

Woodland walks
Head to Cardinham Woods on the outskirts of Bodmin and take a walk in the beautiful woodland. The soft golden sunlight creeps through the trees whilst the leaves turn every shade from gold to red. Take a picnic to devour on after a long stroll.

Cookery courses
Ever wondered how to make the perfect paella, fillet a flat fish or whip up a magnificent meringue? There’s always something new to learn on a cookery course at Rick Stein’s Cookery School. Our chefs will help you build confidence in the kitchen whilst you learn the essential skills and techniques of sourcing and preparing food. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a day cooking, eating and drinking wine.

We hope you enjoy the best of what Cornwall has to offer this Autumn. If you still need somewhere to stay, check out our autumn breaks, two nights dinner, bed and breakfast from £310 for two.
