Description

Please join us for a conversation between UMW students, alumni, and employers on the relationship between digital presence and career and professional development. This summit, which is part of UMW's 2016 Homecoming festivities, will feature panels of students, alumni and employers discussing what it means to have a "career ready digital identity." Speakers will explore the challenges and opportunities associated with one's online presence in preparing for the transition from college to career.

You will learn how fellow students are becoming "career ready" through the Domain of One's Own (DoOO) initiative and hear from alumni and employers about what students can do now to prepare for life after college. The program concludes with a keynote address (“Your Mountain is Waiting… Will Your Digital Identity Take You There?”) by Mr. Jake Ridgeway (Class of 2000), Director of North American Recruiting for comScore, Inc.

The full schedule is as follows:

3:00 -- Welcome and Opening Remarks

3:05 -- Domain of One’s Own as Career Readiness (Student Panel)

3:45 -- Reflections from recent UMW Graduates (Alumni Panel)

4:30 -- Networking Reception and Refreshments

5:00 -- Advice from the Professionals (Employer Panel)

5:45 -- Keynote Address

This program is organized and sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations, the Division of Teaching and Learning Technologies, and the Center for Career and Professional Development.
