Authority Meeting Highlights
The Authority convened at NVTA's offices on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

It may be Friday the 13th, but have no fear, it's all cheer this special edition of the Authority Meeting recap!
Last night, members of the Authority convened for the final business meeting of 2019. The Authority provided a heartfelt farewell to Authority members who will be departing at the end of this year: Marty Nohe, 11-year Authority Chairman, and Prince William County Coles District Supervisor; Sharon Bulova, Chair, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors; Richard Black, Virginia Senator, 13th District; and Randy Minchew, Virginia Speaker of the House of Delegates Appointee. Also departing, but not present, Tim Hugo, Virginia Speaker of the House of Delegates Appointee.
From the adoption of NVTA's inaugural Six Year Program to countless ribbon-cutting and groundbreaking ceremonies on multimodal transportation projects throughout Northern Virginia, we are extremely thankful for each of these individuals' unwavering commitment to the region. We wish them the best in their future endeavors. They will be missed.
We are excited to announce the unanimous appointment of the Authority's new Chair, Phyllis Randall, Chair, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and Authority Vice-Chair, Hal Parrish, Mayor, City of Manassas, respectively, as well as the reappointment the Authority's Town Representative, Derrick Wood, Mayor, Town of Dumfries.
Additionally, the Authority unanimously adopted the 2020 NVTA Legislative Program, which includes the restoration of Authority revenues as the Authority's top legislative priority. Chair Randall requested that all Northern Virginia localities support the restoration of the Authority in their respective legislative programs.
The Authority looks forward to working with newly elected leaders at the state level and noted the number of Northern Virginia representatives filling leadership roles.
Additionally, Monica Backmon, Executive Director, NVTA, provided the Authority with a status update on the development of the Authority's FY2020-2025 Six Year Program (SYP).
A FY2020-2025 SYP candidate project list has been released and includes 41 applications from 13 jurisdictions/agencies, with a combined request of approximately $1.44 billion. These candidate projects will now advance to the detailed project evaluation phase.
A breakdown of applications based on the primary mode for the project applications is provided in the table below. Please note that the projects may support other modes too.
